The night before the night before

The final countdown to EQUIP commencing continues. On Thursday of this week the first session of the course will take place in Donaghadee Baptist Church at 7:30pm. For those enrolled for the course and in receipt of materials the following sections should be worked through in advance:

Understanding the Bible: 'Setting the Scene' (pages 11-15)

Understanding Leadership: Unit 3.1 'Facing the Challenge' (pages 11-13)

As you work through your course materials do feel free to share your progress/thoughts/engagement with others - either here on the blog or via the EQUIP Facebook page which can be accessed here.

This is a new and exciting opportunity for our local Baptist churches to work together, and for members of those churches to learn and study together. As the organisers of EQUIP it is our prayer that the course might serve to minister to, motivate, and mobilise many individuals to know and serve God better.

EQUIP: Almost Ready to Roll

Its the final countdown to EQUIP commencing!

An introductory evening will take place on Sunday at 8:30pm at Millisle Baptist Church. This will be an opportunity to hear more about how the course will run through the next 11 months, how to get the most out of studying, and what to expect at each session. In the meantime here are a few FAQs for those still praying about undertaking the course.

Who is EQUIP for?
The EQUIP course is designed to help people understand their faith and know their Bible better, with the intention of that knowledge being employed for God's glory through ministry in the local church. Perhaps you've been given responsibility in your local church, but feel that there are areas of Bible knowledge or Christian leadership that you need to think through a little more clearly. Or perhaps you're a new Christian just starting out in your faith. You know that you should be growing deeper in your faith and discovering the unique work that God has for you to do in your local church. This course is designed to help you and to prepare you for future service, whether that service follows immediately or a little later in your walk with God. The key word is EQUIP, any knowledge gained on the course is designed to be employed meaningfully in serving God where you are.

How many times does the EQUIP course take place?
Once a month. It will take place on the last Thursday of each month, running from 7:30 to 9:30pm.

How will the course work?
At the introductory meeting on Sunday 15th January in Millisle Baptist Church (8:30pm) course materials will be distributed. These are designed so that you can prepare in advance for each session, bringing what you've discovered for yourself to each session. This means that you'll not be hit 'cold' with new information, but will have had time to reflect on what you're going to learn and bring your own unique perspective.

Each evening will consist of two sessions. One will centre around understanding the Bible, and the other around understanding leadership. Each session will be taught be a different Pastor from one of the participating churches. There will also be tea and coffee between sessions and time for fellowship.

How much does the course cost?
The cost for the 11 months of study is £15. This can be paid at the Introductory session, directly to your Pastor, or on the evening of the first study on 26th January.

Will I have to write essays or sit exams?
There is no formal assessment for the course - it is designed simply to inform, inspire and EQUIP.

Welcome

Welcome to the online home of the EQUIP Course. This is a training initiative, run jointly between Ballycrochan, Bethany, Donaghadee, Hamilton Road, Holywood, and Millisle Baptist churches. It is our hope that the course will be a means of discipleship and encouragement for all who enroll for it, and that this site will help to see that goal realised.

Posts appearing here will include latest news and updates, as well as input from those undertaking the course.
